ABSTRACT:
This is a presentation by the architect of the CHC approach, Dr Juliet Waterkeyn, who explains why in the WASH sector we should not just concentrate on the prevention of diarrhoea but address health in a holistic way. She explains how this can be done in a Community Health Club and the social psychology behind the methodology which achieves high levels of hygiene behaviour change through positive peer pressure. She completes the presentation by giving examples of how women have been empowered by their membership in a Community Health Club.
