Solid Waste Management

Particularly in urban high density suburbs and informal settlements or refugee camps, Community Health Clubs can make an enormous difference by proper management of sold waste. Clean up days are arranged when rubbish dumps are collected, waste recycled and disposed properly. In every home CHC members are expected to adhere to the following standards:

All refuse is disposed properly in a dedicate refuse pit or container

  1. The refuse pit is well managed (regular burial, burning or collection)
  2. The refuse is separated, and bio-degradable is used for compost
  3. The refuse is separated, and non bio-degradable is reused or recycled
  4. The yard is well swept with no sight or smell of refuse of any kind
